NewsFor Immediate Release
The goal is to raise funds at the BMC (a four-day event this August 23-26th) and at other events, for the BCPS's music programs; in hope of purchasing musical equipment and educational materials for the students. 'I also want to start a "Traveling Teaching Musical Roadshow" that we can take around to the different schools during the 2007/2008 school year', said Lisa Chaplin Suit, founder and producer of the BMC. 'My hope is to bring musicians into the schools to work with the kids for an afternoon several times throughout the year. Similar to a field trip but without the students having to make the trip because we will'. If this concept proves successful in the city schools, plans are to then take this show on the road into the counties. The BMC, being held this year at the 1840s Entertainment Complex which is home to Gardel's Supper Club, the 1840s Ballroom and the Carroll Mansion, will be a 4 day extravaganza of musical showcases featuring over 100 performers, seminars, workshops & demonstrations, vendors, a graffiti wall, skateboard demonstrations, and a film screening of "Before The Music Dies'. They are now accepting donations to help save music in the schools, in Baltimore and in all ofour lives.
